Something unpleasant occurred to put dark shadows in her eyes. Of that, he was certain. “Why won’t you talk to me?”

Elspeth twisted to the side and glanced at him from beneath her lashes. “Is that not what I have been doing?”

“No, you haven’t. You’ve been skirting whatever upset you.” Finn’s hands curled into fists at his sides. Why wouldn’t she confide in him?

      Hi, Nancy. Thanks! She feels obligated to wed the man (Alexander) chosen by her father whom she once believed herself in love with. He's changed. Not in a good way.
